96 Mile British Gypsum Charity Cycle Ride

On the 7th June 2014, Inverter Drive Systems Ltd (IDS) MD, Blaise Ford, joined in with the British Gypsum annual charity cycle ride.

96 Mile British Gypsum Charity Cycle Ride

Cycling 96 miles from Barrow upon Soar in Leicestershire to Skegness, all funds raised are to benefit Leicester Royal Neo Natal Unit. The team raised a whooping £20,300 more than doubling the £10k target originally set on the Just Giving Page – you can still donate here. We played a small part by donating a 32” TV to be raffled off.

The weather was changeable and the torrential rain and two punctures made for a challenging ride, but the camaraderie and mutual support more than made up for a thorough soaking. A special mention to the back-up team, who decided to replace Blaise’s wheel rather than risk a third puncture.

Of course there were rewards to be had at the end of the ride, liquid refreshment was enjoyed at a local Skegness watering hole. Although we are not sure what the bride and groom thought of 100 sweaty cyclists arriving at their wedding venue. As well as the aroma of triumph there was a distinct ‘wet dog’ odour permeating the close quarters. Our apologies to the Bride and Groom and we wish them health, wealth and happiness!
