Condition Monitoring of Rotating Equipment and Drives

Host: Michael Roebuck, UK Digital Lead-Motion

Wednesday 20th September 2023, 10 am BST start, duration approximately 1 hour.

Title: Maximising productivity – Condition Monitoring of Rotating Equipment and Drives – The journey from reactive to proactive maintenance – Part 1 (Rotating Equipment)

This session focuses on the remote condition monitoring of induction motors, mounted bearings and pumps utilising the ABB Smart Sensor portfolio of products.

Synopsis: The cost of unplanned machine failures can be far more than just lost production output, it can result in additional costs associated with waste materials, labour, emergency spare part supply and even damage to reputation.

Drives and motors remote condition monitoring helps to monitor critical health and operating parameters of mechanical powertrain components in real-time. This means users are given advanced notification of potential problems, so maintenance can be planned and undertaken before a failure actually occurs.

ABB’s Digital Powertrain technology not only allows manufacturers to predict when maintenance is required, but it gives them a broad picture of the unique influence components have on one another allowing them to improve the performance, reliability and efficiency of their powertrain which in turn improves system optimization.

5x Novel Uses of Variable Speed Drives for the Water Industry

Host: Blaise Ford, MD IDS

Wednesday 15th May, 10 am GMT start, duration approximately 1 hour.

Agenda:

We all know inverters can save large amounts of energy; at IDS we have utilised inverter technology in a number of innovative ways on non-standard applications. During this webinar IDS MD, Blaise Ford will run through some of these unusual applications and talk about some of the lesser-known benefits of variable speed drives.

    • Parallel Pump Control

    • Sludge Pumping

    • Archimedean Screws

    • Weed screen cleaners

    • Control of transient pressure spike in the main

  • Other Inverter benefits (low volt drop, anti-rag, unity power factor, smooth starts etc)
