The new AVP status replaces the historic ABB Drives Alliance Partnership. Combining both drives and motor distributors, IDS are looking forward to continuing to be a forerunner as an ABB Authorised Value Provider.
At the launch event our own MD, Blaise Ford had the honour of launching the new ACS880 inverter, here he is midway through his speech… for someone who dislikes public speaking it is becoming a regular occurrence.

ABB’s UK Sales Manager for LV Drives Steve Hughes was interviewed at the event by ELN (EnergyLiveNews)who reported on the launch of then new channel network ABB Authorised Value Provider
In this interview Steve Hughes says: “There are still an awful lot of applications out there still running without a drive (inverter).” Applications that are driven by an electric motor but who’s output is controlled by a damper or valve wastes a tremendous amount of electricity. Steve describes this as: “driving your car, you have your foot on the gas (accelerator) when you want to go. When you want to slow down you take your foot of the gas and utilise the brake. Controlling a motor with a valve or pump is like keeping your foot on the gas and applying the brakes at the same time. You would be driving with the brakes on – and you wouldn’t do it! It incurs more maintenance on your car and uses more fuel, more energy!”
