Carrying on the Team Talent Spotlight series, who’s aim is to provide a shortcut to getting to know our talented IDS team, we are pleased to introduce you to one of the newest members of the IDS family – Leon Ball.
Job Title: Sales and Account Manager.
Specialism: Customer relationship management.

Highlight of career: Carrying out a double engine and gearbox change in 24 hours when working with the Special Boat Service whilst in the Royal Navy.
Toughest moment of career: Being in a fire, in a main machinery space, on board a Royal Navy warship.
What do you love about your job? Meeting people and forming and building relationships. Sharing knowledge with customers.
Education: BTEC Marine Engineering – 1991.
What positive change have you seen in the industry? More customers realising the need to reduce energy usage and their carbon footprint.

What are your key strengths? Relationship management. Technical expertise and support.
What did you want to be when you were 7? An engineer – I loved taking things apart and rebuilding them – much to my parent’s annoyance!
What would you name as the most innovative invention of the last 40 years? The mobile phone – its development has changed the way we live (for better and for worse).
What item do you never leave home without? Cash.
Item at the top of your bucket list? To go on a British and Irish Lions rugby tour – the full tour – every game.
Who is/was your idol and why? Martin Luther King – brave and tolerant in the face of overwhelming adversity.
Favourite song/artist? Fairytale of New York – The Pogues…it’s not just for Christmas!
Charity you support? Many but my favourite is RNLI.
What is your claim to fame? Jools Hooland once bought me a pint.
What is your pet hate? Being late.
