Worlds most extensive motors drives and controls offering highlighted in new guide
Application-specific motor-drive packages and more introduced in comprehensive guide.
A selection of bespoke motor and drive packages aimed at specific industries and applications is launched in ABB’s new 116 page drives and controls, motors and mechanical power transmission guide. As one of the only companies making both variable-speed drives (VSDs) and low voltage AC motors, ABB is able to offer customers a perfectly designed, tested and approved matched pair.
The packages are designed for applications such as cooling towers, deck winches and ATEX compliant use in hazardous areas. A selection of IE2 and VSD packages comply with the new European Minimum Energy Performance Standard (EU MEPS) introduced on January 1 2015.
Packages can extend beyond matching a motor and a drive. Other components, most of which are featured within the guide, form part of a drive train including bearings, couplings and gearboxes to programmable logic controllers, switches and fusegear.
A new motor focusing on the needs of the UK water industry is featured. The motor meets the UK’s Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specification (WIMES), and is packed with features affording greater protection against the harsh environmental conditions found in the water and wastewater industries.
Other new products include the Motiflex e180 drive, which delivers versatile motion control performance, capability and dependability for demanding motion applications.
A new ACS880 range now includes factory-built multidrive cabinets and a wide range of multidrive modules, allowing system integrators to build complex drive systems of their own.
The guide features tools such as an Energy Toolkit App that estimates energy, CO2 and money savings based on inputting a customer’s existing motor and drive arrangement. The App produces an instant mini-report containing details of a matched ABB motor-drive package, and locates a customer’s nearest authorised value provider.
Meanwhile, the Drivebase App allows customers to read product manuals, find ABB contact details and receive service recommendations and quick troubleshooting through fault code analysis.
