Backing Up An ABB Variable Speed Drive

Backing Up An ABB Variable Speed Drive
Using our demo rig, IDS General Manager, Matt Handley, talks us through how to back up an ABB Variable Speed Drive.
Our demo rig has an ABB ACS480 variable speed drive and this is what Matt will be using to show us how to create a backup.
From the home screen Matt selects the menu option. He scrolls down through the options until he locates “Backups” and presses the “Select” option on the right-hand side of the keypad. In this new screen you will see historic backups (if there are any, a new drive will not yet have backups) and the option to “create backup”. Matt selects this latter option which then causes another screen to open. This view shows two backups previously saved. Matt opts to overwrite one of these by pressing the “Replace” option on the right of the screen. The drive then gets busy saving the backup files to the keypad. This usually takes between 30-60 seconds. Once completed, you will see the screen displays the latest backup.
That is it, nice and simple, the backup is saved. To return to the main home screen, Matt selects the “Back” and then “Exit” option on the left-hand side of the screen. Once on the home screen, you can take the keypad off the drive, apply it to the next drive and clone the data from the original variable speed drive onto the next one.
