IDS Help Sealant Manufacturer Speed Up the Mixing Process
Well known sealant manufacturer ARBO® part of CARLISLE® CM Europe, wanted to upgrade their Nurlinger mixers to increase the speed of the mixing process and replace obsolete equipment.
Previously the team at ARBO® would need to manually change the speed of the mixers by swapping pullies. This manual process was time consuming and suffered continuous mechanical breakdowns due to the age of the variable speed belts and pulleys.
Clive Minion the Maintenance Team Leader at ARBO® worked together with our engineers to improve this process. Clive and his team upgraded the mechanical side of this system, whilst IDS engineer, Mark Elston dealt with the control side of the process.
IDS Help Sealant Manufacturer Speed Up the Mixing Process – Scope of work
To help modernise these mixers IDS supplied and installed a heavy duty 18.5kW IP55 ACS580 ABB inverter on Mixer R7 at the Belper Works. Our engineers used the existing star-delta starter unit, removed the star-delta contactors and we supplied and installed a new DOL contactor. We also removed the existing motor cable and replaced it with new.
The Solution
The operator now has complete control of the mixer via the inverter keypad, with the ability to start, stop and control or vary the motor’s speed.
The Result
Now ARBO® have a much more efficient process, that takes less time to complete a change over and an operator friendly way of changing mixer speeds.
